October’s monthly movie is over 60 years old but has themes still present in our country and the world. “South Pacific” was a stage play in the late 1940s, then courageously made into a movie in 1958. Despite opposition while being filmed and then receiving a negative reception by many in the U.S. and abroad, the movie bravely deals with prejudice and bias. A memorable soundtrack combined with an impossible to resist social commentary make “South Pacific” worth viewing and discussing.
The movie will be shown in the Parish Hall Thursday, October 20th at 3:00 PM and will include a leader led discussion on the themes still present in our society. As with all the monthly movies, popcorn will be served!
